While the rest of Los Angeles watches the Lakers, I find myself considering the Hindu tradition. I can’t believe that it counts 330,000 supernatural beings in its pantheon and yet there is no base of operations like say Askard for the Vikings, or Mt. Olympus for the Greeks. Instead, each deity has their own “loka” or world – in which they exist – the only exception is Vishnu who lives on an ocean of milk. I wonder if they lament their lack of community.
